The Court of the Lord Lyon is based in New Register House in Edinburgh and is the heraldic authority for Scotland.
The Lord Lyon and his officers not only appear at specific functions to perform the requisite ceremonial duties, they also maintain certain historical and vital records and are responsible for the regulation of arms and titles in Scotland.
The officers of the Lyon Court and members of the Royal Household in Scotland and consists of Lord Lyon, three Heralds, three Pursuivants and a variety of extraordinary officers.
Responsible for granting new arms, for the execution of Letters Patent, the maintenance of the Public Register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland as well as other Registers. The Lord Lyon in the highest ranking Herald in Scotland.

Appears on certain occasions bearing the mace of the Court.
